START HERESupriety — A Human Agency Movement

OPTIONAL DEEPER CONTEXT

WHY THE FIRST 5?

One small chance to choose and act before an engaging screen starts directing your attention.

THE IMPORTANT BOUNDARY

Research supports the individual actions to different degrees. Supriety combines them into a simple morning behavior practice. The exact five-part sequence is being tested as a system.

WHY THESE FIVE?

Five useful actions. Different evidence.

1

Water

Drink water in an amount that works for you.

EVIDENCE, PURPOSE & SAFETY
EVIDENCE SNAPSHOT

Water is necessary for normal physiological function. Authoritative intake guidance covers total water from drinks and food; it does not establish a special medical effect from drinking water at one exact morning time.

WHY IT'S HERE

It is a simple physical action you can choose before discretionary digital consumption.

2

Outside + Movement + Morning Light

Go outside, move in a way that fits your body, and meet the morning light.

EVIDENCE, PURPOSE & SAFETY
EVIDENCE SNAPSHOT

Regular physical activity has broad health support. Light and dark exposure are important cues for circadian timing.

WHY IT'S HERE

This combines a supported movement practice with a strong daytime cue in one practical morning action.

3

Gratitude

Name something you are grateful for and give it your attention.

EVIDENCE, PURPOSE & SAFETY
EVIDENCE SNAPSHOT

A 2025 preregistered meta-analysis covered 145 papers, 163 samples, 24,804 participants, and 28 countries. Gratitude interventions produced small average improvements in wellbeing, with variation across countries and intervention types.

WHY IT'S HERE

The practice uses a brief gratitude pause as one intentional choice about where attention goes.

4

Safe Intentional Discomfort

Choose a small, deliberate challenge that is safe for you. Cold is optional.

EVIDENCE, PURPOSE & SAFETY
EVIDENCE SNAPSHOT

Cold-water immersion has evidence for specific outcomes. In post-exercise settings, research supports reductions in muscle soreness and some recovery outcomes. A 2025 systematic review in healthy adults found lower stress 12 hours after cold-water immersion; sleep and quality-of-life signals were also reported, but the long-term evidence remains limited.

WHY IT'S HERE

The First 5 uses cold as one optional way to choose a manageable challenge and follow through. Another safe form of intentional discomfort can be used instead.

SAFETY

Cold is never required. Sudden or extreme cold can strongly affect breathing and cardiovascular function. Keep the challenge mild and appropriate for the person and circumstances.

5

Healthy Eating

Choose your first food intentionally, using what is realistic and appropriate for you.

EVIDENCE, PURPOSE & SAFETY
EVIDENCE SNAPSHOT

The 2025–2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans support flexible, nutrient-dense eating patterns. Needs, cultures, budgets, medical circumstances, and available foods differ.

WHY IT'S HERE

The prompt is intentionally non-prescriptive: make a considered food choice instead of assigning one diet, calorie target, supplement, or fasting plan to everyone.

WHY BEFORE THE SCREEN?

Choose the first cue when reasonably possible.

Specific action plans can help translate intention into action. The First 5 turns waking up into a cue for five chosen behaviors. The morning can still count when safety, caregiving, work, or real life requires a different order.

FOUNDER ORIGIN · LIVED EXPERIENCE

A question about what happened next.

Supriety's founder lived through heroin and fentanyl addiction and spent years around San Francisco's Tenderloin. After recovery, an information gap around fentanyl treatment and recovery options became Supriety.store.

Later, while building and researching intensively, AI and digital work began consuming entire stretches of time. When his phone died, the panic felt disturbingly familiar and raised a question:

“How much say had technology gained over what I did next?”

That became a larger question about agency. The First 5 is one deliberately small attempt to practice choosing before reacting. The lived experience is the origin of the question; the research stands separately.

THE FIRST 5 IS THE FIRST SMALL TEST

A small practice for follow-through and return.

The First 5 is not the entire Supriety platform. It is the first deliberately small test of whether intention can become action, evidence, and return in ordinary life.

  1. CHOOSE
  2. ACT
  3. EVIDENCE
  4. RETURN

The practice lets Supriety learn: Do people start? Do they follow through? Do they return after missing? Do they repeat? What happens in reality? These are questions to test, not outcomes already established.

WHAT IS AGENCY?

Agency is your ability to choose an intended direction and act on it.

DIGITAL DRIFT

Digital Drift is when digital activity pulls you away from what you intended to do.

Did I choose what happened next?

What happens to the human being using the capability?

Technology is a tool, and AI can expand human capability. The First 5 creates a small daily opportunity to set direction, act in the physical world, and then use technology more deliberately.

WHY AI MATTERS

Capability is growing. Follow-through still matters.

Digital platforms made human attention measurable and economically valuable. Attention-driven systems can reward novelty, outrage, endless feeds, and other compulsive loops.

AI is entering that existing information and incentive environment. The capability can help people learn, create, reason, and act.

It can also make it easier to keep generating, researching, consuming, planning, or talking without translating intention into real-world action.

Supriety is interested in technology designed to strengthen INTENTION → ACTION, not merely continued interaction.

PRIMARY RESEARCH · AUGUST 21, 2026WHAT THE RESEARCH FOUND

CHIVE used interventions to test explanations of AI behavior.

Anthropic's Alignment Science work sampled model behavior, screened for an interesting pattern, changed prompts, and measured whether behavior changed. Independent judging then scored how well the experiments supported the explanation. Models trained on CHIVE data also improved at predicting effects in held-out settings.

PRIMARY RESEARCH · AUGUST 26, 2026WHAT THE RESEARCH FOUND

What happened when people actually used AI?

Anthropic enabled three independent groups to analyze roughly 250,000 privacy-preserved Claude.ai and Claude Code conversations from April and May 2026.

HUMAN DIRECTION

Stanford's SALT Lab found people set direction while Claude assisted in nearly three-quarters of conversations. People usually adapted the output.

PRODUCTIVE FRICTION

Friction was common and often useful: people noticed misunderstandings, clarified requests, and refined direction.

FAMILIAR DIGITAL PATTERNS

Oxford researchers reported patterns of absorption, frustration, and enjoyment resembling everyday web use.

SUPRIETY'S INTERPRETATION

Keep the human setting direction.

The design question is larger than capability: can technology help a person choose, think, follow through, return after drift, and act in real life?

RESEARCH: WHAT WE KNOW / WHAT WE DON'T

Three evidence levels

01

SUPPORTED EVIDENCE

Water is essential for normal physiological function. Regular movement has broad support. Light and dark are major circadian cues. Current dietary guidance supports flexible, nutrient-dense patterns. Gratitude interventions show small average wellbeing improvements, and cold-water immersion has evidence for specific outcomes.

02

EMERGING RESEARCH

Researchers are still developing ways to measure how AI systems affect people over time, across different uses and contexts.

03

SUPRIETY HYPOTHESIS

The exact five-part sequence is being tested as a system. Supriety is also exploring whether agency-based signals can influence what technology and institutions learn to value.

Scary Smart — Mo Gawdat

The book offers an influential philosophical and strategic perspective on increasingly capable AI, human values and behavior, and the relationship people build with intelligent systems. It widens the question: What are humans teaching increasingly capable technology through what we model, reward, choose, and value?

Supriety turns that broad question into a smaller practical one: Can technology be designed to strengthen human choosing, follow-through, return, helping others, and real-world action?

TEAM SUPRIETY + REAL-WORLD IMPACT

A precedent for turning participation into impact.

MrBeast, Mark Rober, creators, and participants demonstrated through #TeamTrees that online attention and participation could be converted into measurable real-world impact.

Team Supriety is the team name Supriety uses for its contributions through the #TeamTrees system.

SUPRIETY HYPOTHESIS · THE LARGER SUPRIETY DIRECTION

What if healthier human signals became valuable?

Social media made attention measurable and valuable. Supriety is exploring whether healthier human signals can become valuable too:

  • deliberate choice
  • follow-through
  • return after drift
  • healthier inputs
  • helping another person
  • evidence of real-world action
  • measurable real-world impact

AI amplifies what humans give it and what systems reward. The long-term question is whether incentives can move toward human agency and flourishing rather than attention alone.

THE SHIRT BECOMES THE POST.

THE PERSON BECOMES THE SIGNAL.

THE INTERACTION BECOMES THE CONNECTION.

REAL LIFE BECOMES THE PLATFORM.

A future physical shirt or interface could reduce the need to pull out a phone to announce participation. Real-world participation could create recognition, conversation, witnessing, connection, and eventually evidence of action in physical space.

This is a direction being explored. It is not a currently deployed technical capability.

PARTNERSHIP

DHEN-K powered by Supriety™

The partnership exists. Implementation is intentionally paused while Supriety develops and tests the model and data locally first.

The aim is to bring a better-understood system into another community instead of exporting assumptions.

THE EXPLANATION IS OPTIONAL

The practice is still simple.

See your progress. Check off five. Self-attest. Mark the morning complete. Leave.
